Energy from Our Dear Wind
August 16, 2006
The Quiet Revolution is rather forward. Though I have not been actively involved in “helping” the environment by talking to those evironmentalists hanging around the Fullerton el stop here in Chicago (they try to seduce the college kids at DePaul University), I do believe that wind power is a perfectly wise and powerful alternative to burning fossil fuels. And if you’re going to do it, at least do it in style.
Apple’s .Mac Becoming Rather Pathetic
August 16, 2006
Since 2004, I have been a supporting member of Apple’s .Mac online services. I suppose you could say I wanted an email address that ended with @mac.com, and of course, the iDisk was an alluring feature I had hardly heard of before (I was a noob!). The backup software they offered (two years ago it was primitive, it’s improved a bit) was a charming way to make me feel confident about my IMPORTANT files (school work! random pictures! I’m still a student, so there). [Now I just use Transmit because it dominates everything else.]
So I continue to check .Mac’s new, amazingly not cool “commercialized, corporate blog” they have set up on the log-in page so see if they’ve updated any featues that I subscribe annually for $99. Nope. Instead we get awesome articles like this and this that tell us about features we already know about. Why try to re-sell us the features we know we’re already paying for? We really aren’t that stupid to have forgot the purpose of iDisk and the integration of iWeb overnight (have to pay for the iLife update separately, of course…). I still can’t get over this no-brainer.
Oh Apple… what’s the point? I love love you, but your game is getting a bit tiresome. How about a bigger iDisk (Google’s GDrive is bound to happen… for free), more stable Backup software, and maybe some new? What happened to the virus protection you used to offer? Don’t get so cocky with the “virus-free” Mac ideology. And the free, 100-track Garageband audio gift from your add-on packs is really dumb. I’m sorry.
Suffering the Wrath of an Imbecilic Assignment
August 16, 2006
As if taking a class in the summer wasn’t taxing enough (actually, I rather enjoy it, except for this particular class), I must struggle with unprofessionalism exerted from my professor, at the expenditure of an entire day meticulously stressing over a formal lab report. At least I am making it look as beautiful as I can (Warnock Pro font, Helventica Neue UltraLight for the cover page, gray italicized fonts until a light horizontal line as captioning for figures, etc.).
Ah, school.

My Brother Commences Video Game Production
August 16, 2006
At his blog, my brother recently began a sister site chronicling the development of a PC-based video game. He’s calling the project Activate Liberty, and the concept art that he has exclusively shown me looks fantastic. Here are a few working sprites that he slipped me over iChat:
